Interesting news on the medical imaging screening screening front came out last night.  The American Cancer Society (ACS) decided to add CT colonography (CTC), also known as virtual colonoscopy, as another acceptable screening exam for the early detection and prevention of colorectal cancer for adults age 50 years and older.

Virtual colonsocopy is a less invasive, and, many argue, more convenient, method of colon cancer screening because it doesn’t require an invasive procedure and a day out of the office.  MITA hopes that the promotion of this new screening method by the ACS will lead to better coverage for virtual colonoscopy and will encourage more Americans to get scanned for colon cancer.
