I don't often take the time to pour through advertising supplements, but this week's WaPo "Environmental Leadership" insert caught my attention. There amongst the articles and ads was a full-page spread by Dominion Power, depicting a group of visitors at an art museum standing around staring at … a programmable thermostat. Like the kind manufactured by the members of our Residential & Commercial Controls. The kind that are a significant part of today's High Performance Buildings and will play an important role in tomorrow's Smart Grid.

While thermostats and CFLs and advanced meters may never actually be viewed as things of beauty, we can and should admire them just the same. Just another way electrical manufacturers are helping to create a better world.
