We got our message across at yesterday's Senate Energy and Resource Committee hearing — NYTimes and CNET both served a warning that a lack of standards could stymie the development of Smart Grid. The lead on the CNET article said it best: DOE is about to spend billions of dollars on Smart Grid, but unless we get moving on the development of interoperability standards — creating an intelligence link from the power plant through T&D lines to buildings — "the government risks wasting its money on soon-obsolete technologies that could be incompatible with one another."
