The difference between Veterans’ Day and Memorial Day

I have noticed that many (even within the media) confuse the meaning and are not aware of the difference between the Veterans' and Memorial Day Holidays.

Memorial Day honors service members who died in service to their country or as a result of injuries incurred during battle. While deceased veterans are also remembered on Veterans’ Day, it is the day set aside to thank and honor the 24.9 million veterans presently living in the U.S. today who served honorably in the military – in wartime or peacetime.
