House Energy and Commerce Committee Moves Efficiency Bill

NEMA is pleased to announce that today the House Energy and Commerce Committee passed a vote aimed at setting model conditions for energy efficiency in buildings, reports Erica Martinson of POLITICO.  Last year NEMA voiced its support for this bill.

H.R. 2126 requires the Energy Secretary and the Administrator of the General Services Administration to develop model practices and provisions for landlords to help them make cost-effective decisions that improve energy efficiency in commercial buildings, writes Martison.

NEMA is working closely with Congress and the Obama Administration to promote high performance buildings through the work of the NEMA High Performance Buildings Council, which was established to promote the adoption of high performance NEMA-scope products and systems that increase the energy efficiency, safety, resilience, sustainability, productivity, and security of federal, commercial, and multi-family residential buildings.
